The short answer

Our monthly bookkeeping services in Chandler keep your books current every month: transactions categorized, bank and credit card accounts reconciled, closing entries posted and clear reports delivered. Chris Badulescu, CPA, reviews your results with you, and your books stay ready for your tax partner. Plans typically start around $300 a month.

What is included in monthly bookkeeping?

Every month we post and categorize your transactions, reconcile your bank and credit card accounts to the statements, keep your balance sheet accounts accurate and close the month with the right entries. Then you get monthly reports and a strategy session with Chris to talk through what the numbers are saying.

Monthly bookkeeping is a recurring service, which means your books never get a chance to fall behind. Here is what a typical month looks like with AZ Easy CPA:

  • Posting transactions from your bank feeds and categorizing them correctly
  • Reconciling every bank and credit card account to its statement
  • Setting up and maintaining balance sheet accounts like loans, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Monthly and quarterly closing entries
  • Secure cloud document sharing, so you are not emailing bank statements around
  • Personalized metrics that fit how your business makes money
  • Budget creation and updates as the year goes on
  • Monthly reports and a monthly strategy session to review results
  • Quarterly and year-end reviews that substantiate your balance sheet and key income statement accounts

That last item matters more than it sounds. A balance sheet that has been checked against real loan statements and real account balances is what makes your profit number believable.

What happens to your books each month?

Here is the rhythm of a typical month on a monthly plan.

  1. 1

    All month: transactions sorted

Bank and credit card activity flows in from your feeds and gets categorized correctly, with questions saved up instead of guessed at.

  2. 2

    Statements arrive: reconciliations

Every bank, credit card and loan account is matched to its statement, so the balance in QuickBooks is the balance in real life.

  3. 3

    Close: entries and review

Closing entries, receivables, payables and balance sheet accounts get reviewed by a CPA before the month is called done.

  4. 4

    Reports: your numbers, delivered

Profit and loss, balance sheet and the metrics you care about, in plain language.

  5. 5

    Talk: what the numbers mean

A strategy conversation with Chris about what happened, what is coming and what to adjust.

How much do monthly bookkeeping services cost in Chandler?

Our monthly bookkeeping plans typically start around $300 a month. The exact price depends on your transaction volume, how many bank and credit card accounts you have and how complex the business is. We quote it after a free phone call, so you know the number before anything starts.

We price by the work your books actually need, not by a one-size package. A solo service business with one bank account and one card is a very different month than a restaurant with several card processors and delivery apps.

The things that move the price most:

  • Transaction volume: how many deposits, payments and card swipes come through each month
  • Number of accounts: each bank account, credit card and loan gets reconciled
  • Complexity: inventory, multiple locations, job costing, or several income streams take more care

If your books are behind or messy right now, we usually start with a catch-up or cleanup project first, quoted separately after we look at the file. Monthly work then starts from a clean, reconciled base.

Is a bookkeeping service worth it compared to doing it yourself?

For most busy owners, yes. Doing your own books costs hours every month and usually stops at categorizing, without reconciliations or a balance sheet review. A bookkeeping service gives you reconciled books, monthly reports and a CPA to ask questions, while you get your evenings back.

Plenty of owners start out doing their own bookkeeping, and that is a fine place to start. The trouble shows up later, when the business grows and the books turn into a weekend chore that keeps getting pushed. Here is an honest side-by-side:

If you like being hands-on, that is great too. Some clients keep entering their own invoices and bills while we handle reconciliations and the month-end close. We can talk through the split on your free call.

Your bookkeeping time costs about a month. Monthly bookkeeping plans typically start around $300 a month. Your quote depends on your volume and accounts.

What reports will I get each month?

You get monthly reports that show how the business is doing: profit and loss, balance sheet and the metrics we pick together for your business. Chris reviews them with you in a monthly strategy session, so the reports turn into decisions instead of sitting in your inbox.

Reports are only useful if someone explains them. That is why the monthly strategy session is part of the service, not an add-on. Chris will walk you through what changed, why and what is worth watching next month.

Depending on your business, the conversation might cover:

  • Profit and loss for the month and year to date
  • Balance sheet, including cash, loans and what customers owe you
  • How actual results compare to the budget
  • Personalized metrics, such as revenue per job, cost of goods as a share of sales or average monthly expenses

Over time, the quarterly and year-end reviews give you a fuller look at the year and catch anything that needs a correction before tax season.

Do you handle taxes and payroll as part of bookkeeping?

We do not prepare tax returns or run payroll in house. We work with trusted tax and payroll partners and keep your books ready for them, including recording payroll entries correctly in QuickBooks. You get one organized set of books that everyone works from.

Keeping our team focused on bookkeeping and accounting is part of how we stay small and responsive. When you need a tax return or payroll, we connect you with people we trust and work alongside them.

In practice, that means your tax preparer gets reconciled books and clean year-end reports, and your payroll provider's reports get recorded properly each month. You can read more about how that works on our partners page.

Who will actually work on my books?

A small team on purpose. Chris Badulescu, CPA, leads the work and holds QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite status. Hillary, his assistant, returns calls and keeps things moving, and a few trusted contractors help with the day-to-day. You talk to people who know your books by name.

AZ Easy CPA has been based in Chandler since 2018. We are not a call center, and you will not get handed to a new bookkeeper every quarter. When you call, you reach someone who already knows your business.

"Super organized, easy to talk to, and just gets it done right." (Jesenia M., Google review)

We work remotely or in person. Files come through a secure upload portal and cloud tools, so clients across Arizona and the US work with us, while our home base stays in Chandler and the East Valley.

Which businesses use monthly bookkeeping?

Most of our monthly clients are small businesses that are growing and want reliable numbers without hiring a full-time bookkeeper. That includes service businesses, therapists, dentists, salons and barbershops, restaurants and the trades. If your business has steady monthly activity, monthly bookkeeping usually fits.

Every industry has its own quirks, and good bookkeeping respects them. A restaurant needs its POS deposits matched to sales. A plumber needs materials and labor tracked by job. A salon needs booth rent and card processor fees recorded the right way.

You can see how we approach a few of these on our industries page, including restaurants and the trades. If your business is growing past what monthly reports can answer, our fractional CFO service builds on the same books.

Monthly Bookkeeping questions

How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?

Our monthly bookkeeping plans typically start around $300 a month. The final price depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts and how complex your business is. We give you a quote after a free phone call.

Do I need QuickBooks Online?

QuickBooks Online is what we use most, and Chris is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor at the Elite tier. If you are not on it yet, we can set it up or convert you from QuickBooks Desktop. Chris also works in NetSuite for businesses that use it.

What do I need to send you each month?

Most transactions come in through bank feeds, so there is less to send than people expect. We will ask for statements, loan statements, receipts for unusual items and answers about transactions we cannot identify. Everything goes through a secure upload portal.

My books are behind. Can I still start monthly bookkeeping?

Yes. We usually start with a catch-up or cleanup project to get the books current and reconciled. Once that is done, monthly bookkeeping picks up from a clean starting point.

Do you prepare my tax return?

No, we do not prepare tax returns in house. We work with trusted tax partners and keep your books ready for them, so tax time is mostly a matter of handing over reports.

Can you run my payroll?

We do not process payroll ourselves. We work with payroll partners and make sure the payroll entries are recorded correctly in your books each month.

Do I have to come into the office?

No. Most clients work with us remotely using our secure upload portal and cloud tools. If you are near Chandler and prefer to meet in person, that works too.

Is there a long-term contract?

We are happy to talk through how the engagement works on your free call. The goal is a monthly service you stay with because it is useful, and we will lay out the terms clearly before anything starts.
