The short answer

LLC formation in Chandler with AZ Easy CPA starts with our online LLC worksheet. Chris then reviews your answers with you, prepares your Articles of Organization and Operating Agreement, files with the Arizona Corporation Commission, gets your EIN from the IRS and helps you set up QuickBooks and bookkeeping.

Why start an LLC in Arizona?

An LLC (limited liability company) is a common choice for small business owners because it separates the business from you personally, is relatively simple to maintain and offers flexible tax treatment. It also makes it easier to open a business bank account and look established to customers, vendors and lenders.

Many owners start as sole proprietors and form an LLC once the business is real. Others form one on day one. Either way, the LLC creates a separate legal entity that can sign contracts, hold accounts and build its own credit history.

  • Separation: business assets and debts are kept apart from personal ones when the LLC is run properly
  • Flexibility: a single-member or multi-member structure, member-managed or manager-managed
  • Tax options: by default an LLC is taxed as a sole proprietorship or partnership, and later it may elect S-Corp treatment if that makes sense
  • Credibility: a registered business name and EIN for banking, vendors and contracts

Liability protection depends on how the LLC is set up and operated, and legal questions belong with an attorney. What we focus on is getting the formation done correctly and keeping the business finances separate, which is a big part of treating the LLC as its own entity.

How does LLC formation work with AZ Easy CPA?

Our LLC formation process has seven steps: the LLC worksheet, a consultation, document preparation, filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission, getting your EIN from the IRS, delivering your official documents and ongoing support with QuickBooks and bookkeeping. You always know what is next.

  1. Fill out the LLC worksheet. Our LLC worksheet collects your business name, members, address, management structure and statutory agent details.
  2. Consultation. Chris reviews your answers with you, explains your options and answers questions about structure and next steps.
  3. Document preparation. We prepare your Articles of Organization and an Operating Agreement.
  4. Filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission. We submit the Articles to the ACC on your behalf.
  5. EIN from the IRS. Once the LLC is approved, we get your Employer Identification Number.
  6. Official documents delivered. You receive your approved Articles, Operating Agreement and EIN confirmation in one organized package.
  7. Ongoing support. We help you set up QuickBooks, a chart of accounts and bookkeeping so the business starts out clean.

What information do I need to start an LLC in Arizona?

You will need a business name that is available in Arizona, the names and addresses of all members (and managers, if any), a business address, a statutory agent with an Arizona address, and a decision on whether the LLC will be member-managed or manager-managed. The worksheet walks you through each item.

  • LLC name that is distinguishable from names already registered with the ACC, ending with LLC, L.L.C. or Limited Liability Company
  • Statutory agent: a person or company with an Arizona street address who accepts legal documents for the LLC
  • Principal address for the business
  • Members and their ownership percentages
  • Management structure: member-managed (owners run it) or manager-managed (appointed managers run it)
  • Business purpose and a general description of what the company will do

Not sure about something on the worksheet? Fill in what you know and leave a note. Chris will go over anything that is unclear during your consultation.

What is an Operating Agreement, and do I need one?

An Operating Agreement is the internal rulebook for your LLC. It lays out who owns what, how decisions are made, how profits and losses are shared and what happens if a member leaves. Even single-member LLCs benefit from one, and banks often ask for it when you open an account.

The Articles of Organization are filed publicly with the state and are fairly short. The Operating Agreement stays private and does the heavy lifting. It is especially important when there is more than one owner, because it settles questions before they turn into disagreements.

DocumentFiled with the state? What it covers
Articles of OrganizationYes, with the ACCLLC name, statutory agent, management structure, members or managers
Operating AgreementNo, kept with your recordsOwnership, voting, profit sharing, adding or removing members
EIN confirmationIssued by the IRSYour business tax ID for banking, payroll partners and tax filings

Does Arizona require LLCs to publish their Articles?

In some Arizona counties, a notice of the Articles of Organization must be published in a newspaper after filing. Businesses whose statutory agent address is in Maricopa County are exempt from the publication requirement, which covers Chandler and most of the East Valley. We explain whether it applies to you.

If your LLC is based outside the exempt area, publication is an extra step that comes with a short deadline after approval. We will tell you during the process whether it applies and what you need to do, so it does not get missed.

What should I do right after my LLC is formed?

Open a separate business bank account, set up your accounting software, decide how you will track income and expenses, and talk with a tax professional about estimated taxes and any state or city licensing. Keeping business and personal money apart from the start makes everything after this easier.

  • Open a business checking account and a business credit card using your EIN and LLC documents
  • Set up QuickBooks Online with a chart of accounts that fits your industry
  • Connect bank feeds and decide who records transactions and how often
  • Check whether you need an Arizona transaction privilege tax (TPT) license or a local business license for what you sell
  • Talk with a tax partner about estimated payments and your first return (see our partners page)
  • Put a calendar reminder for annual items, like keeping your statutory agent current

Many new owners also ask about S-Corp status. It is not usually the first step, but once profits grow it may be worth a look. Our S-Corp election page explains when.

Why have a CPA help with LLC formation?

Online filing services can submit forms, but they do not set up your books or explain how your choices affect taxes and record keeping. With AZ Easy CPA, the same Chandler team that forms your LLC can set up QuickBooks, start your monthly bookkeeping and stay with you as the business grows.

Formation is only the first day of the business. The decisions you make early, like how to pay yourself, how to track expenses and which accounts to set up, shape how smooth your first tax season will be.

LLC Formation questions

How long does it take to form an LLC in Arizona?

Timing depends mostly on the Arizona Corporation Commission's processing time and whether you choose expedited processing. Once you complete the worksheet and consultation, we prepare and file promptly and keep you updated along the way.

Do I need a statutory agent?

Yes. Every Arizona LLC needs a statutory agent with an Arizona street address to receive legal documents. It can be a member of the LLC or a company that provides this service, and the agent must consent to the appointment.

Can I be the only member of my LLC?

Yes. Single-member LLCs are very common. By default the IRS treats a single-member LLC as a disregarded entity for tax purposes, and your tax partner can explain how that affects your return.

What is an EIN and why do I need one?

An EIN is a federal tax ID number for your business. Banks usually require it to open a business account, and you will need it for payroll, some vendor forms and your tax filings.

Should my new LLC elect S-Corp status right away?

Usually not on day one. An S-Corp election tends to be worth a look once the business has steady profits. We can talk through it during your consultation, and our S-Corp election page has more detail.

Do you offer legal advice on LLC structure?

We are a CPA firm, not a law firm. We prepare formation documents and explain the accounting and practical side of your choices. For complex ownership arrangements or legal questions, we recommend talking with an attorney.

Can you keep my books after the LLC is formed?

Yes. Many clients move straight into QuickBooks setup and monthly bookkeeping with us, so the business starts out organized and stays that way.
